Kim Chiu Dazzles with Daring Stunts in Magpasikat 2024: “When You’re Tired, Stop, Breathe, Calm Down”
Actress and “It’s Showtime” host Kim Chiu wowed audiences with death-defying aerial stunts during her Magpasikat 2024 performance alongside teammates Ogie Alcasid, MC, and Lassy. The quartet delivered a powerful act that left both viewers and judges thoroughly impressed.
On Tuesday, Kim showcased her aerial skills, executing high-risk maneuvers that highlighted her dedication and fearlessness. Guest singer Morissette Amon elevated the performance with a soulful rendition of Sarah Geronimo’s “Isa Pang Araw,” adding emotional depth to the spectacle.
Kim revealed she was rushed to the hospital after an accident during rehearsals, requiring a CT scan. Despite the setback, she persevered, embodying the theme of resilience and the importance of taking a moment to pause.
Ogie Alcasid confronted his fear of heights by performing on a tilted, rotating platform while playing the piano and singing an original song. “Isn’t it that I easily get dizzy? That was extreme,” he admitted, highlighting the personal challenge he overcame.
Comedians MC and Lassy defied expectations by performing an impressive aerial cube act, proving that age is no barrier to pursuing one’s passions.
Their performance centered on the theme of “taking a break,” encapsulated by their tagline: “Kapag pagod ka na, tigil, hinga, kalma” (“When you’re tired, stop, breathe, calm down”). Ogie explained, “We always tell ourselves, ‘It’s exhausting.’ Instead of resting and calming down, we tire ourselves even more, thinking it will alleviate life’s challenges, bitterness, and pain.”
Inspired by Psalm 46:10—”Be still and know that I am God”—Ogie shared, “This isn’t a suggestion from the Lord. He’s commanding us, ‘Be still. I’ll take care of everything.'”
The team shared personal reflections on their careers. Kim emotionally discussed the pressures of social media and constant comparison. “We think we have no purpose because this is all we are… We work so hard that we forget about our loved ones,” she expressed.
Co-host Vice Ganda offered words of encouragement to Kim, saying, “You’ve been doing so much. You’ve been working very hard. Never risk your life, your happiness, your existence for those who don’t deserve you. Give your efforts to those who believe in you, who love you.”
Judge Freddie M. Garcia praised the performance, stating, “The total show was beautiful. I was totally entertained and very happy.”
Kim Chiu previously won the Magpasikat title in 2023 with teammates Jhong Hilario and Ion Perez. Her continued commitment to pushing boundaries and delivering heartfelt performances has solidified her status as a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
